Hey  there,

I don’t know about you but I started 2020 with a bump. After two restful weeks chilling out with the kids, I came back to work with #TurkeyBrain spending the first week asking the team what I was supposed to be doing. Well, I can gladly say that fog has lifted and I’m back on top form.

I’m also slightly excited to be reading the newly released 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer (get a large mug of coffee – it’s a long one). What I found most interesting is that no institution is considered both competent and ethical – a huge opportunity for business.  I’ve highlighted my thoughts in this blog.

Yet again, the most trusted voices are company technical experts, peers and employees – a sure sign that the lines are blurring between internal and external communications.  Brands are living in glass houses – PR is no longer a way to control perception.

In my opinion, there’s no better time for companies to safely embrace the opportunity that comes with socially activating their employee voices online. I’ve asked Keith Lewis from Zurich Insurance (regulated industry) to share his approach to internal/external social activation in our next free webinar on January 29th. Join us if you can!

For now, enjoy what’s left of January – the days will start brightening up soon!

All the best,

Sarah
