CEO @ Tribal Impact | Connecting Business Growth To Employee Influence & Advocacy On Social Media

As more people are choosing to work remotely, I thought I'd share some of my top tips. We, at Tribal Impact Ltd, have been working remotely for many years now so have picked up a few hacks along the way. Any to add? 📢 Communicate: Whether you use Slack, Teams, Skype - get comfortable messaging/tagging your colleagues 💬 Talk: All because you're remote doesn't mean you can't talk. Use Skype, Zoom or Teams to switch from chat to talk. 🎥 Video: Record & send videos, screenshares and explainers and save time aligning calendars to book calls. 📅 Meeting Free Day: Try to keep a day free for admin tasks, thinking time, team catchups and adhoc conversations. ☕ Take A Break: It's easy to have lunch at your desk or work long hours. Consciously make a effort - go for a walk. 😀 Have Fun: We love a GIF at Tribal. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. 📝 Plan Ahead: Tonight, list down the tasks you absolutely need to complete tomorrow. Stick to it. 💻 Clear Your Desk: Remove unwanted cables & piles of paper - make sure your backdrop is suitable for video calls. 📈 Monitor Your Pattern: Use MyAnalytics or Rescue Timer to understand how you spend your time digitally. Any to add? #remoteworking #remote #workingremotely #toptips

Move your desk in front of a window so that you have a nice view!

Great tips Sarah. We all work from home and practice most of the tips daily.

Dress for work and clear your work area if you don’t have a home office at the end of the day. If you have a home office, shut the door. It helps me separate work from home.

Thanks for sharing, I'd like to add: set expectation with your family members about your availability to talk or to do things at home to avoid interruptions or frustration.

I would also remind setting up ergonomic home office to enable remote work . This maybe a cause of severe health spine and eye problems if you work for a prolonged time in an invalid position, with insufficient light, unadjusted and inappropriate armchair and when working on a laptop without an external LED monitor and keyboard all the time, not to mention work straight from the bed, sofa, etc.

I would add to still get dressed and showered even if you work from home. It’s easy to stay in your pjs but it will make you feel lazy and not so keen to work. You might save the commute but get yourself business ready to feel like you are still working ;-)
